This week Alex and Jeremy discuss the recent upsurge in so-called ‘Canadian patriotism’, largely in response to American culture and trade policy. When refusing to hate Americans and disagreeing with suicidal tariff wars is met with the charge of ‘treason’, we must ask, ‘what does it mean to be patriotic?’.
True patriotism is a love and loyalty to the nation of one’s fathers. A nation is a covenantal unit, and a family of many families. It is a particular people in a particular place who share worship, values, and laws, and is geographically defined by a border.
The ‘post-national state’ is the antithesis to a healthy nation. It is an attempt to undermine all bonds of love and loyalty between citizens, and direct all loyalty exclusively to the State. A ‘post-national patriot’ is someone who pledges allegiance to the State and it’s dogma.
Well, I guess that makes us traitors to the regime.

True Patriot Love
The Canadian history and identity, and now flag, have been commandeered by people who hate them.
