One of the pillars of Western culture is a Christian view of human identity. It is from this fundamental belief that various institutions, values, and overall culture were built. As the West shifted away from their Christian beliefs, so too did they shift on their understanding regarding human nature and identity. This lead to shifts in our understanding of justice, our philosophy of education, our view of the family, etc.
