I look forward to listening. We cannot have courage to walk in victory while we wallow in fear. Thank you!

I haven't thought much about Beowulf since my college tenure as one of the most average and unmotivated English majors ever... This podcast shifted it to somewhere entirely new in my brain. I so enjoyed the insights you all cheerfully and eloquently raised. Well done!

This reframing of courage as manful necessity rather than fairytale ideal is compelling. The Egbert's Stone story shows how narrative shapes culture better than abstraction. I've noticed how disconnected we are from historical examples of courage, and recoveringvirtue through story makes practical sense. Alfred rallying ordinary people is the kind of stuff that sticks with you.

The following quote impacted me (I will have to paraphrase as I can’t remember exact words): “The problem was, they let go of their swords. They assumed the evil was dealt with and could relax. I think we as Christians do that. We are surrounded by darkness, we do battle but then another battle is right around the corner. Don’t hang up your sword when one enemy is defeated.”
