In the year of our Lord 597, the gospel of Jesus Christ came to the English, and the world has never been the same. People who once practiced human sacrifice were brought to the knowledge of the true and living God. Pagans, who formerly knew only the utterance of barbarity, began to cry the Hebrew ‘Alleluia’. The effects of this event would thunder forth for the next 1400 years, bringing into being one of the greatest civilizations the world has ever seen. Join us as we discuss this great and momentous tale told by one of England’s most beloved historians, Bede.
Egbert's Stone
'Egbert's Stone' exists to rekindle a love for the stories, events, virtues, and faith that built our world. More specifically, it aims to rekindle this love in the hearts of ordinary people, being firmly convinced that the West cannot be saved until it is once again cherished as the unique and precious gift that it truly is.
As G.K. Chesterton once remarked of Rome, "Men did not love Rome because she was great. She was great because they had loved her."
It's high time we recover that kind of thankful, humble love; and in all of it, an even deeper affection for the God whose grace made it possible in the first place.
To Him be glory forever. Amen.
